Lillian Shah and Laura Messinger are two of the country’s leading authorities on maintaining personal health records.
They have been featured on local and national TV and radio, and in numerous magazines and newspapers, speaking and writing about the importance of good medical record keeping. They are known for their proactive approach to doctor-patient partnering and caregiving smarts, and for their energetic and informative talks.
Lillian and Laura have both acted as caretakers for terminally ill mothers and older sisters. While talking about their mutual concerns with doctors, hospitals, and insurance providers, and their frustrating efforts to gather and organize crucial information, they realized both had been thinking of the serious need for a comprehensive system of gathering medical information and maintaining a backup set of records. Together they have written the book envisioned during that first conversation.

How many of us know where our body maintenance manuals can be found? And does anybody else know?”
